Cindy Intorre Biography
Fine Art Photographer
Photography has played an important part of Cindy Intorre's creative life since her early teens; from her first point and shoot to her first single lens reflex camera. She began her formal education in photography at the Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. A passion for travel, both stateside and abroad, fuels Intorre's work and is the focus of the image donated for the 2007 Art-a-Fare. Vermont Barn with White Hydrangeas was shot just outside of Burlington, Vermont in 2004. Since 2004, Intorre has focused on printing images using the Polaroid transfer process. According to Intorre, "The scale of this print invites one to come closer and investigate what might be going on in the image. It creates an intimacy that only a small print can establish with the viewer. The process also transcends the photography medium and gives the print a painterly feel. "Working out of her studio in Hampden, Intorre has been a resident of Baltimore, Maryland since 2001. Originally from State College, Pennsylvania, she spent twenty five years creating photographs while living on St. Simons Island in Georgia before relocating north. Cindy Intorre's photographs have been published in the Savannah News Press and Coastal Georgia's Illustrated as well as widely exhibited throughout Georgia and Baltimore. Ms. Intorre is employed by MICA and works in the Office of Advancement.
