Ellen Burchenal Biography
Ellen Burchenal is a Baltimore based artist who works in painting, drawing and installation. She received her MFA from MICA (Mt Royal Graduate School of Art) in 1982 and her BA from Trinity College in Connecticut. She is an instructor in the GFA department of MICA, and she has exhibited and lectured in numerous galleries and universities throughout the region. Represented by the C. Grimaldis Gallery, she has received several Maryland State Arts Council Artist Fellowships. Since 1996 Ms. Burchenal has been the director of the MICA Summer Study Abroad program in Sorrento, Italy.

1998-99 Floating and Flying, 1% For Art Commission, Hamilton Elementary/ Middle School, architects Richter Cornbrook Gribble, Inc., in collaboration with artist Linda DePalma
1998-95 Undercurrent, Shot Tower Metro Station, Baltimore Metro, Mass Transit Administration. This is a 4-color laminated glass wall 8 ft high x 900 ft long that surrounds passenger platform in subway station. The project involved collaboration with architectural team Daniel, Mann, Johnson and Mendenhall.
