Christine Neill Biography
Christine Neill came to Baltimore in 1969 to study painting with Grace Hartigan at MICA's Hoffberger School of Painting. After gaining teaching experience at a variety of institutions, she returned to MICA in 1980, where she teaches in the painting and foundation departments, and in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program.

Neill spends summers in New England, most recently in New Hampshire, where she paints daily in a converted barn studio. Her Baltimore city garden shares characteristics without duplicating those of her country gardens. Neill finds the two activities, planting and painting, support each other and influence the use of nature in her paintings and prints.

For thirty years, Neill has had numerous solo shows on the East Coast and frequently participates in national, international, group and juried shows. Goya Contemporary, Baltimore, Gallery AA/B, Boston, and Tokonoma Gallery, Great Barrington, Mass., represent her work. Among her honors, she received the Maryland State Arts Council Fellowship and the Mellon Arts Grant; many private and public collections include her work. More examples of her work can be found at www.christineneill.com, designed by MICA graduate Abe Brewster.
