Description
Collinsville Canoe and Kayak is has been a fantastic supporter of NFCT. And now they can help you learn some skills to take on the Trail! Bid for one slot in a two hour group on water Intro to Kayak Lesson. At the end of the course, you should be able to paddle safely in protected waters. Easiest-to-paddle recreational kayaks are used. Learn about:
- boat design and materials
- paddles
- clothing and equipment
- adjusting the boat for a comfortable fit
- paddling forward and backward
- turning and sideways maneuvers
- braces as a method to prevent capsize
- what to do in event of capsize
Special Instructions
Boats and necessary gear provided. Lessons are held at Collinsville Canoe and Kayak shop on the Farmington River (41 Bridge Street, Collinsville, CT 06022). Lesson program begins in early to mid May, depending on weather. Winning bidder will contact Collinsville directly to schedule lesson.
