Special Instructions

Gürze is a woman who came to Lindsey in a dream in 1976 when she was fighting a nine-year battle with bulimia. Her loveable face inspired a nationwide doll business that was an integral part of Lindsey's recovery and the beginning of Gürze Books. Only a few of these dolls are hand-made each year, and each is completely unique. People often ask what the name Gürze means. A student of Bavarian dialaects once said that it is a casual greeting, like "hello," which literally translates to, "I greet the God in you." This is the intention behind all of Lindsey's work, whether she's making dolls or serving the field of eating disorders.
