The Jester Has Lost His Jingle was written and illustrated by David Saltzman as his senior project at Yale before his death from Hodgkin’s disease in 1990. The popular, lavishly illustrated, full-color children’s picture book, published in 1995, is used in schools and hospitals across the country. Award-winning Jester & Pharley Phund literacy and outreach programs have benefited thousands of children.
The Jester & Pharley Phund is dedicated to bringing the lessons of laughter, hope, self-reliance and caring in The Jester Has Lost His Jingle to ill and special-needs children everywhere. More than 61,000 copies of the book and 61,000 Jester & Pharley Dolls have been donated to date.
