Description

Up for auction are five tickets to the Atwater Kent Museum of Philadelphia and a lovely book entitled 35 Recipes "From the Larder Invaded."

The Atwater Kent Museum, located just around the corner from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, is the gateway to Philadelphia history. Founded over 60 years ago as the city's history museum, the Atwater Kent Museum of Philadelphia (AKMP) provides many ways to learn about the city. School and youth groups use hands-on experiences with historical objects. Families discover the city together. Adults find expertise about their collecting interests and historical issues. National and international visitors gain insight into 21st-century urban life and context for important moments in American history. Use these pages to access the resources of AKMP to enhance your own Philadelphia history experience.

35 Recipes "From the Larder Invaded" is by William Woys Weaver. This collection of recipes is drawn from materials assembled for the exhibition "The Larder Invaded: Reflections on Three Centuries of Philadelphia Food and Drink" presented jointly by the Library Company of Philadelphia and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. It is intended as a gustatory guide through the exhibit-small tastings, if you will, of the huge feast that has unfolded from Philadelphia's culinary past. We hope that this tasting will offer a broad range of perspectives on Philadelphia and it's cookery, from soup kitchens to the luxuries of caramel ice cream. (Philadelphia: Library Company of Philadelphia and Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1986.)
