Description
If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Spend an afternoon with an arborist from the Metro Parks Forestry Department and find out! Oh, okay, he or she might not be able to answer THAT question, but an arborist can tell if a tree fell due to disease, how old the tree was before it fell, and whether there's anything to be done to save a tree.
Arborists are tree doctors. They are people who care for the trees that grow along our streets, in our parks, and around our houses. They prevent, diagnose and treat tree diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and structural problems that threaten the health of trees.
If you like nature, working outside and are thinking about a career that satisfies you scientific know-how and a feel for design, this job shadow is for you!
