A set of four cards, each with a different Chinese proverb chosen by the bidder from the list of twelve below. The proverbs are printed in Chinese and English. The cards are 4.5" x 6" and come with envelopes.

1. 一分耕耘，一分收获
An ounce of tilling, an ounce of harvest.

2. 百闻不如一见
Hearing a hundred times does not match seeing once.

3. 家丑不可外扬
A family's dirty laundry must not be hung in public.

4. 不听老人言，吃亏在眼前
If you don't heed an old man's words, you will soon come to grief.

5. 四海之内，皆兄弟也
Within the four seas, all men are brother.

6. 不经一事，不长一智
Wisdom does not grow without life experience.

7. 船到桥头自然直
A boat will naturally straighten up to flow under the bridge when the time comes.

8. 江山易改，本性难移
Even mountains and rivers are easier to alter than a person's innate character.

9. 患难见真情
True friendship is revealed in hard times.

10. 金窝银窝，不如自家草窝
Gold nest, silver nest, neither can match my own straw nest.

11. 当局者迷，旁观者清
The concerned party sees through a fog, the disinterested onlooker sees clearly.

12. 巧妇难为无米之炊
Even the most skilful housewife cannot produce a meal from an empty pantry.
