Description
Water color and ink painting, with the poem "Love of Lotus" written in Chinese calligraphy, on rice paper. Dimensions: W40" x L26 3/4" (painting only); W53 3/4" x L34 1/2" (with frame).
Artist's Bio: Ms. YU Lai-yin, a Hong Kong-based Chinese artist who developed her interest in art as a child while watching her artist father YU Pui at work. She was trained at the Hong Kong Fine Art School under Master Yang Shen-Sum, and later at Ecole National Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Ms. Yu has developed her unique style of blending Chinese and western techniques in her watercolors. In 1979, Ms. Yu won the silver medal for her painting "Lotus" at the Societe des Artistes Francaise Salon in Paris. Since then, her paintings have been exhibited in Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kula Lumpur, Beijing, Taipei, and in U.S.A. Some of her paintings have been collected by museums in France and U.S.A. and by private individuals. Some of her work has also been included in the Dictionary of the Achievements of World Chinese Artists and in The Collection of the Famed Contemporary Chinese Painters' Works.
