Description

Long-sleeved robe, rust-colored background, with six frog fastenings at neck and down side. Time period or origin is unknown. Dragon design woven with gold thread, with flowers and other designs in many colors: green, gold, blue, pink, purple, red, and cream. Black banding on sleeves with decorative stripes of these same colors. Black band across chest at overlap is edged in a patterned fabric, also has decorative stripes of these same colors. Black band across chest at overlap is edged in a patterned fabric, also has decorative designs in these colors. Robe is tacked, front and back, about two feet up from bottom so that the two sides are free. As with any older textile, it shows the signs of age. There seems to be a water stain on lower third of the robe, mainly on the back. Nevertheless, it would be an interesting and attractive antique to own.
