Chili peppers hang out to dry in this photo taken by John Smagula in Zhongxian County, Chongqing, near the Three Gorges of the Yangzi River. Much of this area is expected to be destroyed when the Three Gorges Dam project downriver is completed, currently anticipated in the year 2009. In some places, the water will rise 550 feet from its current level. The photograph is a 7"x10" color image.  Photograph comes with a custom-cut white mat for an 11"x14" frame.  Frame not included.

John Smagula was a Yale-China Law Fellow from 2000-2002 at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou and Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, as a part of the Yale-China Association's Law Fellows Program. The program sends young, Mandarin-speaking U.S.-trained attorneys to China to teach courses on U.S. and international legal practices and standards at Chinese law schools. Yale-China Law Fellows have also helped to pioneer the field of clinical legal education in China.
