Description

Tiananmen, or the Gate of Heavenly Peace, shown in this photo taken by John Smagula, was first built in the 15th century and is the principal entrance to the Forbidden City. Ming and Qing dynasty emperors would have been carried through the central portal to attend to their activities outside of the governmental palace. The photograph is a 8"x10" color image.  Photograph comes with a custom-cut white mat for an 11"x14" frame.  Frame not included.

John Smagula was a Yale-China Law Fellow from 2000-2002 at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou and Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, as a part of the Yale-China Association's Law Fellows Program. The program sends young, Mandarin-speaking U.S.-trained attorneys to China to teach courses on U.S. and international legal practices and standards at Chinese law schools. Yale-China Law Fellows have also helped to pioneer the field of clinical legal education in China.
