Cal Shakes' home, the magnificent Bruns Amphitheater, is one of the most beautiful and unique settings imaginable to experience live theater. Located in the Siesta Valley between Berkeley and Orinda, their plays are set against a beautiful backdrop of rolling East Bay hills and summer sky.

This auction item includes two (2) Cal Shakes tickets to a 2008 season performance for a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evening or Saturday Matinee performance. It also includes a Gift Certificate for Lunch at the Cafe for Two with Bottle of House Wine at the scrumptious Chez Panisse Restaurant & Cafe.

Chez Panisse opened its doors in 1971, started by Alice Waters and an assortment of idealistic friends. A neighborhood bistro named after a character in Marcel Pagnol's 1930's trilogy of movies (‘Marius,’ ‘Fanny,’ and ‘Cesar’), the Restaurant and Cafeé are a homage to the sentiment, comedy and informality of these classic films.

Alice and Chez Panisse have become convinced that the best-tasting food is organically grown and harvested in ways that are ecologically sound, by people who are taking care of the land for future generations. All Chez Panisse produce, meat, poultry, and fish come from farms, ranches, and fisheries guided by principles of sustainability.
