Description

Beaulieu Vineyard, rooted in the benchlands of Rutherford in world-renowned Napa Valley, has pioneered California winemaking since the turn of the century.

Founded in 1900 by French immigrant Georges de Latour, Beaulieu ("beautiful place" in French) Vineyard today spans nearly 1500 acres, and its wines are marked by its proud tradition as an innovative leader in the history of the California wine industry. BV can boast being among the first to import disease-resistant, bench-grafted rootstock; the first to use American oak barrels for aging wine; and for producing some of the first recognized world-class Cabernet Sauvignon from California.

Tapestry™ is one of the signature wines of BV. They destemmed but did not crush the grapes for the 2003 Tapestry Reserve™, then sent the fruit to open-top stainless steel fermenters. Pumpovers were reduced towards the end of fermentation to just wetting the cap. they lightly egg fined and chilled the wine just prior to its single filtration, one day before bottling.

Nearly opaque black-ruby in color, the 2003 Tapestry Reserve™ strongly showcases the concentration that came from this late-ripening vintage. Exotic aromas of black olive, dark cherry, vanilla-rosemary oak spice and dark cocoa with anise lead to rich, medium-full-bodied flavors of cedar, tobacco, dark currant and olives. The tannins are rich but not harsh.

This is a delicious wine to enjoy now or down the road with aged cheeses, grilled meats and other strong, savory dishes.
