Mark Stevens is a unique jazz singer, and lucky for us, he lives right here in the Bay Area (having recently moved here from Chicago).

Stevens' smoky voice is reticent and relaxing...provocative and profound. He sings with hushed tones and constraint, establishing a rapport with his audience. He comments, "I sing as though I’m conversing with a person, allowing one to relax and hear what I’m saying. After all, jazz is a conversation in music.”

In his debut recording, Mark Stevens and the excellent rhythm section of Eddie Duran, John Wiitala, and Akira Tana answer one another in a jazz conversation, and they invite you to eavesdrop. Recorded this past year in Berkeley, this album includes such classics as "The Thrill Is Gone" and "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)", along with new songs written by Stevens.

The album is dedicated to master jazz musician Eddie Duran.
