How many golf courses can you play at night in the greater Madison area? One! We have the only lighted golf course in Dane County and we were the first lighted golf course in the State of Wisconsin! 

The par 3 academy golf course offers a wide variety of playability.  A few of the holes are carved out of the woods and hole #4 features an undulating putting green positioned directly next to a pond with a beautiful lighted fountain backdrop.

Our golf course presents an exceptional practice opportunity for your short game. The holes, ranging in length from 94 to 148 yards, are challenging for all skill levels and are nestled among mature pine and oak trees. The greens are small and frequently bunkered requiring accurate shot making. The course, at 1,127 total yards, on average takes about one hour to play. You can play 9 holes over lunch and still make it back to work on time or play 9 holes at night under the lights to prepare for your big match the next day!

George Vitense Golfland, located conveniently at Whitney Way & West Beltline Highway in the heart of the west side of Madison, Wisconsin, was founded in 1955 by George Vitense, a longstanding PGA professional, past president of the Wisconsin PGA and an inductee of the Madison Sports Hall of Fame. Although George Vitense died in 1988, his grandson, Joel Weitz, President & PGA Professional of Vitense Golfland and honorary president of the Wisconsin PGA, continues the operation of the business today.

In 1955, George had a vision of developing a multifaceted, affordable, day & night family golf environment. In its first few years of operation, George Vitense Golfland already featured a large double deck golf range, two 18 hole miniature golf courses, and a 9 hole par 3 golf course.

Today, we have continued our family vision of high quality, affordable, family golf & sports related entertainment. The facility includes a Top 100 Rated Golf Range in America open all year, the first lighted golf course in the State of Wisconsin and the only lighted golf course in the area, the #1 rated miniature golf courses in Dane County, the new "putting edge" INDOOR Madison Landmark 18 hole miniature golf course, 8 state of the art baseball and softball batting cages, a 24' five station climbing wall, HiBall - the trampoline game, Water Wars - water balloon slingshot fun, "The Rock" - 24' climbing wall and concessions. All activities are available at night.  Recently opened in September, 2006 is our new 20,000 square foot building which allows us to offer fun activities year round.  In addition to the new 18 hole indoor Madison Landmark miniature golf course, we also offer a full arcade with tickets for prize redemption.  You may also drive remote control boats on our "Lake Mendota" and "Lake Monona".  We also offer full food & beverage service for breakfast, lunch and dinner from the Green Tree Grill.  We have a beautiful dining area with 3 sided fireplace, 50" plasma screen and beautiful view of our facility.

We offer hiqh quality year round golf instruction from six PGA professionals (Joel Weitz, Mark Reif, Tom Gerke, Jim Schuman, Mike Schnarr and Bill Furnari) and one PGA Apprentice (Darin Key) to offer a wide variety of lessons and league opportunities through the George Vitense Golf Academy.  Lessons with view of full ball flight are available from our academy studio where we can open an overhead door, keep you warm with two 90,000 btu heaters, then close the overhead door and analyze your swing in a comfortable indoor environment.  The academy studio also includes a putting green to work on your short game year round.

Our New Building is Open!

Vitense Golfland is now open permanently, year round, with many exciting new activities.   The new 20,000 square foot building offers the following:

*   Two privately access controlled community rooms are now available for birthday parties, company meetings/team building/outings and other group outings.  Make your reservation now!  These rooms may be used individually or combined for larger groups and are equipped with cable, internet and music access.

*   The new Green Tree Grill features a glassed in display grill and many other items to offer a wide variety food, drink and tasty treats.  Get ready for Dippin' Dots ice cream, smoothies, slushies, and many tasty beverages.  A comfortable seating area is available complete with fireplace, 50" plasma TV and a fantastic view of all activities.  Outside of the seating area, is a deck and terrace to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

*  Wireless internet is available for FREE!  Relax in the dining area, on the deck or on the terrace and catch up on personal and business matters.

*   An academy studio equipped with latest in digital video technology for George Vitense Golf Academy allows us to provide instruction directly from the lobby of the building year round!  Our experienced PGA Golf Professional staff is available for game improvement every month of the year!  Inside the academy studio is a putting green to allow year round putting practice.

*  Nevada Bob's Golf offers new golf shop space sitting directly on the golf range to provide the latest in golf equipment and other supplies.  

*   The new indoor 18 hole "Madison" landmark miniature golf course is like no other and features many unique Madison landmarks and businesses.  The centerpiece of the Madison miniature golf course is the Capitol building complete with Lakes Mendota and Monona where remote control boats can be driven around the lakes.  This course is interactive, educational and extremely fun!  On rainy days, hot days, cold days - it doesn't matter - you can play miniature golf year round in comfort!

*  Inside the miniature golf course area is a game area with redemption to offer fun and great prizes for all ages.

*  The ramp to our lower level of the golf range is now in use and is covered and protected for the winter.  Combined with new 90,000 btu heaters in our covered and heated golf range area already installed, the golf range is now open year round.  Stay warm and see full ball flight for every swing every day!
