Josh Habel is from Durango, Iowa, and graduated from Hempstead. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 14th round in 2002 out of the University of Northern Iowa and was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers following the 2004 season. Currently, he is a starting pitcher for the Gary Southshore Railcats and has been recognized in 2007 with honors such as "Pitcher of the Week" by the Northern League.
