Description

This autographyed copy of Senator Kennedy's first children's book is a delightful, non-partisan book for children. It's about a typical day in Washington D.C. as told through the eyes of Splash, a curly black Portuguese Water Dog, who accompanies the Senator to work. Illustrated by Caldecott Medal-winning artist David Small, the book depicts Splash's visits around the nation's capital - of which our narrator says "I know the city like the back of my paw." The focus is on Splash's perspective where a tennis ball or ear-flapping ride on an underground tram vies for equal attention with an education bill wending its way to a vote. This book is a marvelous introduction for children about civics and Washington D.C., with its quick pace and pleasing drawings.
