Description
Photograph and key to unlock public sculpture made from recycled materials. Frame is 11"x14".
This is my first "unlocking stewardship" sculpture. Those who purchase the mounted photograph and key can choose whether to leave the work locked in public space or to unlock and remove it. However each artwork has at least two locks, necessitating cooperation between stewards.
The key that is for sale at this auction will only open one of the two locks
that this sculpture is chained to. Cooperation with another future steward
would therefore be required to remove it from its current location.
Winning bidder will be put in touch with other keyholder so they can decide whether it should be removed or not.
Special Instructions
Clay Ward is an artist living and working in Cambridge Massachusetts. He is interested in the human responsibility, control, and marking of public space, thought, and cooperation.
The framed photograph and key will be available for pickup or may be shipped to the winning bidder. Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping and insurance costs (of framed photograph)
