Description
Structured reading assessment for a child in second, third, or fourth grade followed by a written summary and recommendations of specific activities that the parents can do to help the child become a more fluent reader. Over the course of 30 or 40 minutes, the child will be guided through a series of simple tasks to read word lists, read short passages, and attempt comprehension questions as the teacher takes detailed notes. Within a week, the information will be analyzed and a written summary / proposal prepared, ready for a follow-on hour-long meeting with the parents to discuss the results and ideas to help the child become a more successful reader.
Special Instructions
Kristi Flint currently teaches math at Central Middle School in Stirling, NJ and does private tutoring. For the previous four years, she taught fifth grade at Millington School. She has carried out reading assessments for over 50 students and has found them to be extremely helpful in pin-pointing whether children are struggling due to poor word-attack skills, poor comprehension, or other factors. Once the weak areas are identified, a plan to strengthen them can quickly be put into place.
Offered within 20 minutes driving distance of Millington, NJ.
