Description
This rare pipe is accompanied by a pristine, autographed 8 x 10 b&w photo of Allen Welsh Dulles, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. The photo has handwritten at the bottom edge: "With sincere regards, Allen W. Dulles" and it is dated below that "1 Nov. 1957." The ink has faded slightly into a rich brown, the authenticity is unquestionable. The absence of a named recipient on the photo makes this uniquely YOURS, to display in your home or as you wish. Back of photo appears to have been coated at some time either when mounted in a frame or on a board, but shows no damage on the front side and there has been no seepage through the base of the print. While the photo is a rare item by itself, it and the pipe are accompanied by a third item....a letter from the donor of the pipe and photo, explaining the 1957 passage of these items from Mrs. Clover Dulles to James Angleton [then Director of the Counterintelligence Division of CIA], and then to the donor's husband. All were at the Central Intelligence Agency as officers or senior officials and are some of the most famous figures in CIA history. This is a treasure for any intelligence collection...or for a museum or corporation.
