Description

"Earth Day, Every Day" is a new CD featuring performances by local musical artists focused on curbing global warming and celebrating the 37th anniversary of Earth Day. The CD is an eclectic mix of songs and sounds ranging from a school choir (Ventura's new charter school), Seeds of Whatever (Middle Eastern Fusion) to a chorus of birds and frogs from the wilderness of Ventura County.

The theme song for the CD compilation is an original, exotic melody written by Copia (local composers Donna Miyuki Harley, Bradley Spurr & Lori Williams) which includes local nature sounds, live vocals and haunting sounds of a didgeridoo (an air instrument made from a hollowed out tree limb, used for centuries by Australian aborigines and claimed to be the world's oldest wind instrument.)

"Earth Day, Every Day" is also the theme of Ventura's Earth Day celebration, April 29th 11am-5pm at Mission Park in downtown Ventura. The music CD and many of its contributing artists will be prominently showcased at this event -- many performing on the solar-powered stage.

"Earth Day is celebrated by more than half a billion people each year making it the largest secular holiday in the world," says Mary Sequoia Hamilton, chairperson of Ventura's Earth Day celebration. "This CD and the amazing musical performances are a gift from our local community to the world urging everyone to wake up to the climate crisis and be part of the solution."

All proceeds from the Earth Day music CD -- and the Ventura Earth Day Celebration -- will benefit the Ventura Charter School of Arts and Global Education, whose mission is to prepare students to be active citizens of the 21st century and see themselves as interconnected and interdependent members of a diverse, global community.
