Description

Boston-based artist Leslie Miller’s papercuts have been included in several papercut exhibits, including an invitational show at the Cooper Hewitt Museum of American Folk Art. In this homage to Symphony Hall, the Boston home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Miller has lovingly created this one-of-a-kind papercut, which she has titled, “Ode to Joy.” This intriguingly intricate 30”x31” work was cut from one piece of Kozo paper, featuring wonderful details of life in Symphony Hall: Look there is Maestro James Levine, the angels above the balcony, the organ, the proscenium, a harpist, a cellist, a horn player, and other details!

To ensure that this work of art will remain for generations, John Fournier of Framed in Time has archivally framed the papercut, using, among other features, UV glass; the frame beautifully reflects colors found in the Hall’s décor. Boston Symphony, Boston Pops and Symphony Hall aficionados will have moment after moment of delight, recognizing yet another detail of the hall and its musicians, which Miller has captured. This work truly gives new meaning to the word, “priceless”.
