She leads the charge in helping with the war effort by knitting blankets for soldiers, collecting scrap metal, and even opening her home to Emily, a girl who's escaped war-torn England. Molly learns the importance of pulling together-just as her country must do to win the war. "

Donor Sidenote: Carol's daughter had Molly and lots of her things, and loved her. Her daughter brought Molly along with them on many vacations.  Molly became a part of the family.  

Carol also thought that Molly, whose story involves a Dad away at war, and the difficulties that brings in her life (WWII) might resonate with kids of today.
