Description

Six people will join Doug Neff and Don Grant for a one-day golfing, dining and fine wine experience in the Sonoma County wine country at the exclusive Mayacama Country Club. The Mayacama was created to match great golf and great wine. The golfing experience was personally created by Jack Nicklaus. The wine experience is created by the club's "Vintner Members", who are owners of some of the most respected wineries in Napa and Sonoma -- Harlan, Phelps, Silver Oak Jordan, Kistler, Marcasin, Araujo, Ferrari-Carano, Dumol, Beringer...29 winery owners in all.

The golf is an experience of a lifetime set in the hills and oaks of the wine country. Jack Nicklaus has described Mayacama as his "favorite inland course." Mayacama is five years old and is the youngest course to make the "Golf Digest Top 100 courses in the United States" at number 66. The course is not long by today's standards, only 6,156 yards from the men's tees and 6,761 from the back. However, the "slope" (the measure of difficulty) is 137 from the men's tee and 152 from the back tees, making the back tees he most challenging course in California, and one of the top three in the country. So bring your "A" game, you need it. (Not recommmended for handicaps in excess of 18.)

The two foursomes will depart Orange County airport by private plane on the new Citation Sovereign (NETJETS). The group will leave on a weekday (date to be mutually agreed upon) at 8:30 AM. Breakfast will be served on the flight to Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, only 10 minutes from the airport to Mayacama. This is a classic walking only course. so everyone must take a caddy. Tee off will be around 11:30. After the round, we will have a catered dinner with a sampling of some of the wines from the Vinter Member offerings.
