Description

Ceramic plates of various sizes and styles were commonly produced during the 15th to 17th century in Anatolia (Turkey).  The wide flat surface of plates provides contemporary artists with room to explore and express different figures, patterns, and color combinations, making them a favorite medium just like their predecessors centuries ago.  This plate displays a new arrangement of original "Iznik" floral motifs introduced into the Ottoman art world in the second half of the 16th century.
