As an alternative to accepting numerous invitations to give out hors d'oeuvres at booths at charity fundraisers, Malicki holds benefit dinners for nonprofits at the cafe about twice a month. "If you can make me cry," he says of those who approach him with sad tales of need, "you can have the restaurant."
