Two ferocious medieval animals flank either side of the central character in this woodblock.  Elaborate decoration surrounds the figures and speaks volumes of a time long past.

Catherine M. Jaggi is best known for her Old Master Series, a collection of paintings which pay homage to the work of greats such as Bacon, Goya, and Van Gogh - among others.  Her work has been viewed in over 50 shows and is in private collections throughout Europe, Canada, South Africa and the United States. Numerous critics have reviewed her work; most notably Donald B. Kuspit, in the New York Times for her piece "Departure Too", which paid tribute to Max Beckmannn.  The piece was shown at the International Juried Show at the New Jersey Center for the Visual Arts.  Jaggi studied at the Mass College of Art, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, as well as Boston State College.
