Description
This is a colorful combination of elements from works by Vincent Van Gogh are used by artist, Catherine Jaggi to recreate a frenetic world of the mind of Vincent Van Gogh. Portraits of Van Gogh adorn the walls of the room, while a woman sits by his bedside, and yet, he is also painting the scene. A pensive couple sit at a table in the foreground, while a bat flies over Vincent's head as he sleeps.

Catherine M. Jaggi is best known for her Old Master Series, a collection of paintings which pay homage to the work of greats such as Bacon, Goya, and Van Gogh - among others. Her work has been viewed in over 50 shows and is in private collections throughout Europe, Canada, South Africa and the United States. Numerous critics have reviewed her work; most notably Donald B. Kuspit, in the New York Times for her piece "Departure Too", which paid tribute to Max Beckmannn. The piece was shown at the International Juried Show at the New Jersey Center for the Visual Arts. Jaggi studied at the Mass College of Art, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, as well as Boston State College.
