Artist: Edmund Grant

Size: 42" x 42"

Media: Acrylic on Canvas

Edmund Grant's passionate approach to living has connected him with many forms of art from an early art. He began playing the saxophone at age 7 and continued through his collegiate years with his own jazz band. After a long hiatus for a professional career, he returned to the arts and taught himself to paint in the late 1980's. Since then he has made a fulltime commitment to painting and sculpting and is collected throughout the United States and abroad. His colorful, passionate and sometimes whimsical artwork has been shown in some of the top galleries in Northern California including Vorpal Gallery of San Francisco, Dyansen Gallery of Carmel, the Powell Street Gallery of San Francisco and galleries in New Orleans. Locally, for the past five years his work has been on display at Kuleto Estate Family Vineyards of St. Helena along with Jessup Cellars of Yountville for the last two years.

Grant has had several one man shows including those at Markham Vineyards, Provenance Winery, and Domaine Chandon. Most recently, he has accepted an invitation to display his artwork at the upcoming 7th Florence Biennale at the Fortezzo Basso in Florence, Italy, to be held on December 1 - 9, 2007.

In addition, Grant's art has been employed to promote several Napa County events including jazz, 4th of July, and Shakespeare festivals. He has received several prestigious awards including best of shows and first place in oil painting at the state level. His art continues to evolve with his improvisational skills translated into the visual esthetic. Today, Edmund and his wife, Kristi Rene (also an artist), live their dream at their artwork in progress, Villa Spankadellic, in the Soda Canyon and this wonderful domicile filled with their art is available by appointment.
