Description

This unique Kubera, cast in Ladakh of sterling silver with gold plate, is stunningly powerful with a vibrant, awake presence. Kubera is a Hindu God of Wealth and in Tibet is in the retinue of Vaishravana, sometime operating separately. He is the guardian of the North and he is the “caretaker” of wealth. He holds in his left hand the jewel-spouting mongoose, symbolizing generosity, as it conquers the snakes of avarice. In his right hand it looks like he is holding a conch shell, which is blown to announce a Buddha’s enlightenment. Thus it symbolizes the ability of all beings to awaken in response to the call of the Dharma. Some references say it is a lemon. In Tibet he is known as Jambhara

Victoria Fahey of Samma-Ajiva writes:
“The first time I held him in my hands, I knew I could not leave him behind. His image stayed with me as if he was in front of me for days before I finally purchased him. It was my feeling at the time that he was not mine but that I was facilitating his journey to the person or organization he belongs with.
His necklaces, cords and bracelets are separate pieces that move and give him an even more alive quality. The precision of detail, as you can see from his photo, is mesmerizing, from his tiny toes to his amazing eyes and eyebrows.
I purchased him from a reputable dealer and the information regarding source and material comes from the dealer.”
