Glasgow: Scotland with style

Glasgow is one of Europe's most exciting -- and accessible -- destinations, which combines the energy and sophistication of a great international city with some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery.

It is an architectural dream; Victorian red and honey sandstone, Italianate steeples and medieval spires sit harmoniously with neo-gothic towers, the sensuous Art Nouveau of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the titanium, glass and steel of the contemporary city.

Glasgow has an amazing portfolio of internationally acclaimed museums and galleries, including the magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which re-opened in July last year; unique Burrell Collection and stunning Mackintosh House - all of which serve to reinforce its credentials as Glasgow: Scotland with style.

The city's unique style is also stamped on its year-round events program, which offers festivals, exhibitions, live performances and sporting fixtures 52-weeks of the year.

Glasgow's contemporary music scene is legendary and its nightlife eclectic. As home to Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and the Citizens Theatre, as well as a plethora of annual celebrations including Celtic Connections and Piping Live!, Glasgow is always an eventful experience.

Glasgow is justly renowned for the quality and diversity of its shopping as well as for its burgeoning restaurant scene, while the city's range of accommodation is equally as impressive, embracing everything from boutique hotels to well known chains.

High bidders will stay five nights at the Thistle Hotel Thistle Glasgow is conveniently situated in the heart of Glasgow's entertainment and shopping area and provides the ideal base from which to explore the city. The hotel has an Otium Health and Leisure club with swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa pool and work out facilities. Includes breakfast, all five days.
