This illustrated pillowcase was specially created for The WGBH Auction by the popular mystery author, Jane Langton, who illustrates her own books. A departure from the mayhem of her novels, this pillowcase serenely depicts a black and white image of Canadian Geese in picturesque flight formation. The illustration includes a quotation by Henry Thoreau and is signed in the lower right by Jane Langton.



About the Illustrator: Ms. Langton is the author of a dozen books for young people, including six other fantasies about the Hall family of Concord, Mass.: The Diamond in the Window, The Swing in the Summerhouse, The Astonishing Stereoscope, the Newbery Honor Book The Fledgling, The Fragile Flag, and The Time Bike. Also well known for her mystery novels for adults, Ms. Langton lives in Lincoln, Mass.
