Description

Marilyn Hafner, an illustrator of more than 100 children's books, has drawn on both sides of this pillowcase. On the side featuring the WGBH "TwoTag," she has created black and white line drawings of six cats, playfully toying with the "TwoTag" and its tie-string. This side is designed to be hung horizontally.

On the other side, drawn to be displayed vertically (shown), is a colorful illustration of cats, birds, and fish. Shown in pairs, the animals are in shades of green, purple, and orange. The pairs appear in the style of a mobile and guard the word "Two" and the numeral "2." Mariilyn Hafner's salute to Channel Two would be perfect for a home with twins!

About the Illustrator: Marilyn, who lives in Cambridge, Mass., received her B.Sc. degree in 1947 from the Pratt Institute. Hafner undertook additional studies at the New School for Social Research (1948-1950), School of Visual Arts, Silvermine School of Art, and Slade School (London, England, 1965-1966). An artist, illustrator, and designer, Hafner has been employed by McCall's as art director (1950-1954), and art instructor at Famous Schools, Inc. (Westport, CT, 1968-1970). A member of the Society of Illustrators, Westport Artists Guild, and Silvermine Guild of Artists, Hafner received the New York Herald Tribune Children's Spring Book Festival Award (1949) for her work on Bonnie Bess: The Weathervane Horse.
