Description
Intarsia is an art form that dates back to 15th or 16th century Italy. Intarsia is created by selecting different types of wood, using its natural grains, patterns and colors, and then cutting, sanding and shaping them to form a finished picture much like a jigsaw puzzle. In this case, the result is a three dimensional representation of Chinese Junk. The intarsia is mounted on a smooth varnished piece of birch plywood and framed in a slightly darker varnished oak frame.
