Todd Brainard is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach, and Claremont Graduate University. Brainard presents an unforgettable approach to the confrontation between natural and man-made environments. Using the Southern California landscape for inspiration, Brainard blends traditional art methods with ordinary objects, and contrasts photo-realist illusions with irrational color to create contemporary, thought-provoking and beautiful, compositions. In 2000, he received the President’s Purchase Award from Claremont Graduate University, and he has exhibited at – but not limited to – the University Art Museum at CSU Long Beach, the Kidder Smith Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Peggy Phelps Gallery at Claremont Graduate University. He is currently living and working in Long Beach, California.
