Yun Bai was born in Beijing, China, and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was five years old. She grew up in an environment where a traditional Chinese setting was blended with a Southern American upbringing. She earned her B.A. in Studio Art from Agnes Scott College in 2001, and during her education there, she had to support herself by participating in the adult entertainment industry, which would later influence her work. Themes found in her work include the exploration of identity, social stimulus and experiments, a fascination with science, a feminine commentary, and social criticism. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, and has recently been named as one of LA Weekly’s Top 10 Emerging Artists.
