Sue Thompson is a self-taught painter who became an artist after more than twenty-five years in the food and beverage industry. She left her restaurant career in 2003 to become a professional artist. Thompson paints what she knows best – restaurant life in front of, and behind, the scenes. Working from photographs, Thompson's style has developed into a unique sense of color and light, and her extensive background in the service world has inspired her subject matters of local bars and eateries. She is an annual exhibitor in the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, and has received awards including the Sawdust Festival Apparel Design Award and the City of Laguna Beach Brush and Palette Award. Her work has been exhibited in various shows including the Robert Mondavi Food and Wine Center of Southern California, and can also be viewed at Houston's Restaurants in New York, New York; and Corona Del Mar, California. In 2004, Thompson was contracted by Canadian Art Prints LTD to reproduce her wine and culinary imagery and is now published worldwide. She resides in Laguna Beach, California.
