Michael Davis was born in 1948 in Los Angeles, California. He has been exhibiting and creating public art since 1978. Awards he has received include the AIA Award and the National Endowment for the Arts. The artist works independently and with teams to produce large-scale site-specific works that serve the needs of the public. His sculptures can be found in busy urban centers like Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Washington D.C., or in one work, incorporates a stream into a water feature for a golf course in San Jose. He is adept at working with the elements; light, water, metal, and stone. Davis also creates smaller scale sculptures in his studio.
