Rebecca Sittler’s work combines interests in performance and photographic narratives with visual elements borrowed from the history of still life painting. She is originally from Nebraska and received her M.F.A from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Massachusetts. She currently teaches photography at California State University, Long Beach. Sittler has exhibited and spoken about her work internationally. Recent venues include bfAnnex gallery in Boston; the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, Gallery 1101 at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; the Photographic Resource Center in Boston; Sherman Gallery at Boston University; Galeria Universitatii Nationale de Arte in Bucuresti, Romania; and Tampa Museum of Art. She is also featured with four other US educators at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in Pingyao, China.
