Lisa DeSmidt completed her B.F.A. at California State University, Long Beach. She has had her work in several group shows in venues throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, including the Huntington Beach Art Center, the University Art Museum at CSU Long Beach, and Long Beach Arts. After graduation, DeSmidt worked at the Huntington Beach Art center, and continued to develop her own body of work. She always had an interest in Old Master glazing techniques, and uses these techniques to create a sensual, seamless surface with oil on panel. In her paintings she combines elements of hyperrealism, abstraction, and landscape to create a unique atmospheric space. In her most recent body of work, DeSmidt uses crime scene investigation techniques to create dramatic events that are played out in her paintings.
