Ann Diener graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, and continued her education at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she received her M.F.A. Her large gouache and colored pencil drawings merge swirling abstraction with stuttering figuration, implying a nonlinear narrative of furious growth, epic tumult and inescapable decay. They send your eye on a riotous journey. The artist has been published in New American Paintings and has work in the public collections of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Prudential Insurance Company of America. Among the awards and honors she has received are the Dissertation Fellowship and Abrams Prize from UC Santa Barbara.
