Judy Bales has worked for more than 20 years in fiber and mixed media, and more recently, in public art. Commissioned by the City of Phoenix, she collaborated with an engineer to design a pedestrian bridge over I-17, which was installed in 2005. Although materials cast off from industry and agriculture provide the raw materials for her work, the inspiration comes from the landscape, a personal sense of space and the human figure.
