Are you raising a young scientist? Do you want your child to connect with his/her world? Try this out for inspiration, your child will be inspired and all of his/her guests, too. Doc Rock will take the birthday party guests on a mystery tour of Great Falls Park . The tour will follow the route depicted in her book Kids will receive clues leading them to the water fall, water level marks, potholes and balanced rocks. It will be an interactive fun activity and they will learn a lot about the great geology in their backyard. Each child will receive a copy of The Pothole Mystery as a favor. The group will return to the picnic area for refreshments set up by the birthday party child’s parents. (For a special cake for the occasion, please contact Annie Hilten at (703) 955-0278.) The party works best with children ages 6-10, maximum # of kids 15 with an adult:child ratio of 1:4 for safety reasons (so the parent should arrange for other adults to participate.) PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF ANOTHER SPECIAL EVENT COMING UP. This event is unrelated to the birthday party that is up for action. Doc Rock will lead a fun-filled family expedition of Great Falls National Park on June 24, 9AM (until approximately 1PM) sponsored by the Capital Society and the Tower Club at Tysons Corner. She will lead us on an interactive tour of this wonderful natural treasure in our midst that is known for its geologic, Native American and Colonial history. The tour will follow the route depicted in her book, and will culminate with a delicious box lunch. Where: The Great Falls Visitor Center (in VA). Cost: $30/Adults, $20/Children under the age of 16 (includes tour, box lunch and a book).
