 JoNel Newman, assistant professor of clinical legal education, received her B.A. from the University of Missouri and her J.D. from Yale University, where she was senior editor of the Yale Law Journal. Upon graduation, she clerked for Judge R. Lanier Anderson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and then practiced with Garrison, Silbert & Arterton in New Haven. Professor Newman subsequently worked for the Florida Justice Institute and the Connecticut Civil Liberties Union Foundation, acting as lead counsel in numerous civil rights, law reform, class action, immigration, and prisoner litigation cases. Most recently, Professor Newman worked at Florida Legal Services, where she was responsible for providing litigation support to legal services organizations throughout Florida and for the litigation of Migrant Farmworker Justice Project cases. Professor Newman teaches in the Community Health Rights Education Clinic.
