Description
Tree #25 (2005), archival pigment print, 19"x13", edition 1/10, signed and framed. Monk equates her passion with William Blake's observation that, "the tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way." Nancy Monk's trees grow and evolve from image to image, and from photo to painting to sculpture and back again. One can literally witness her process of visual exploration as the results of one artwork split and divide like cells, leading to the creation of dozens of related branches.
