Description
The 2 sides of the porcelain vessel represent the spiritual and physical elements of one of the most revered and powerful images in Northwest mythology: the eagle. One side of the vessel is figurative. The dignified profile calls for respect and the out stretched wings exhibit the bird's physical strength. The face of the moon sits in the left wing symbolizing the eagle's home in the sky.
By contrast, the other side of the vessel displays the eagle's spirit. Through the abstract and stylized forms, a face emerges. The eye within the an eye symbolizes the wisdom of the guide and visionary that is the eagle.
This limited edition vase is cast from porcelain. Although unglazed, the vase is vitrified so that it will hold water. When artist, Terry Jackson, has competed 750 vessels his original molds are destroyed. Once the entire edition is sold, your piece should increase in value.
