We're diving into the Mitford cookbook once again. Ever wonder what that delicious sounding southern fare actually tastes like? Our very popular Mitford Tea answers that question every time we offer it.

Join us as we celebrate the culmination of Jan Karon’s wonderful series of novels, the Mitford Years. We’ll be serving favorite recipes from Jan Karon's "Mitford Cookbook & Kitchen Reader," including Esther’s orange marmalade cake!

 

Reservations have been made for a "Tea Party" for you and five of your favorite lady friends. Tea includes a three-course luncheon, bottomless pots of tea, taxes and tip – $25 per person, for a total value of $150 for a party of six. Bon appétit!

To sweeten the deal, we’ll even throw in a $25.00 gas card to SuperAmerica.

 

While you’re in Stillwater, take a leisurely stroll around town and visit some of the local antique shops, or take in the spectacular fall colors, by car or boat – information included below.

"Main Street" Tea - Saturday, October 13 at 11:00am

Older girls (ages 7—14) will want to bring Mom or Grandma to attend our first annual "Main Street Tea" featuring the popular book series by Ann M. Martin. It’s all about sisters Ruby and Flora Northrop, and their adventures on Main Street, Camden Falls. Enjoy a specially prepared three-course tea luncheon, talk about "Welcome to Camden Falls" and "Needle and Thread", and join in on our celebration right here on Main Street, Stillwater. Make reservations soon for this October 13 tea.

 

Annie Wilder Author's Tea - Saturday, October 20 at 11:00am

Annie Wilder and the true story of her haunted house returns to Aprille's Showers on October 20. Annie will tell her personal story of the ghosts that haunt her home, as chronicled in her book, House of Spirits and Whispers. Annie will take tea, and she'll take your questions, so come prepared to ask them! If you've read her book (not recommended late at night!) you'll want to know more, and Annie will be pleased to fill you in. She'll also want to hear about YOUR spiritual encounters of the spooky kind! This tea is timed perfectly to get you in the "spirit" for the upcoming Halloween holiday!

 

Laura Childs Author's Tea - Saturday, October 27 at 11:00am

Laura Childs, one of the area’s most renowned authors, and certainly the most prolific, returns to Aprille’s Showers on October 27 at 11:00am. Laura will join you in the partaking of our scrumptious three-course high tea luncheon. She’ll be signing her latest novel, Frill Kill, the fifth title in her "Scrapbook Mystery Series". If taking tea in South Carolina is more to your liking, you’ll be able to add to your "Tea Shop Mystery Series" collection as well. Laura will be on hand to sign her latest, Dragonwell Dead. Laura enjoys making the rounds, so make sure to have your questions and comments ready when she visits your table!

 

Joy Kuby Author's Tea - Saturday, November 10 at 11:00am

On November 10 we welcome back Joy Kuby whose book, The Fortunate Four, tells the true story of four young Hamline University woman and their incredible road trip across America in the summer of 1935. This is an adventure that touches every emotion, in a bygone era when life was different, to say the least. Joy gives the story a personal touch, which will have you laughing and crying all at once. They're leaving soon... don’t miss this trip!

Tickets for our Victorian Christmas Theme Teas are now on sale. Delicious three-course high tea that has become an annual tradition for our patrons.
