Nestled on 400 acres in the heart of California's wine country, Safari West is home to over 400 exotic mammals and birds. Not a zoo, nor a drive-through park, it's a wildlife preserve where the whole family can view some of nature's most beautiful animals in a natural habitat.
Enjoy all the creature comforts when you spend the night in one of the luxury tents—"It’s like having a tent over your room!" Pale-green canvas walls enclose plush beds, hot showers and rustic but elegant trappings. There are polished wood floors, gleaming copper basins in the private bathrooms and one-of-a kind hand hewn furniture.
Tents are imported from Africa and are built on high wooden platforms with spacious decks where guests can take in the view of grazing giraffes or enjoy the serenity of the private lake. It's the height of luxury.

Rangers lead groups on 2.5 hour tours through the preserve. Half of the tour consists of being driven by your guide in an authentic safari vehicle; the remainder of the tour allows you ample time to stroll amongst giraffes, primates and enjoy the open air aviary.
It's the closest you can get to these extraordinary creatures without a passport!
